John Young started making knives in 1997. He started with small hunters, and now is making incredible subhilts, daggers, fighters, and special designs as well. He gained much of his knowledge by working with legendary knife maker Steve Johnson. That experience, combined with his own abundant skills, has elevated him to the position of a rapidly rising star in the knife world. Many collectors already consider his knives to be in the "must have" category. John uses ATS-34 as blade steel, and many types of natural materials for his handles including Stag, mother of pearl, ivory, Sheep horn, and various exotic woods. He also uses man made materials on occasion, such as micarta. His fit and finish is already legendary, and his knives are very difficult to obtain. John has a several year backlog of orders, and his knives can only be obtained at the few shows he attends by a lottery drawing.
