Great Lakes Custom Knives is honored for the second year in a row to have the folder from Ken that won "Best Handle Design" at the Atlanta Blade Show. One just has to look at this folder from the 2006 show to immediately know why it was the winner. Ken is quite simply becoming one of the best carvers and designers in the knife making business. This lockback folder measures 7 3/4" open, 4 1/4" closed, and has a 3 1/2" Damasteel blade. The carving theme is exquisite, with the handle carving flowing all the way through into the blade. The stainless steel handle is inlayed with 18K gold bars as part of the theme, and the rounded , carved butt is also 18K gold. The two premium black lip mother of pearl inlays are held in place with gold pins. The stainless steel backspacer is carved and contains a gold bar inlay, and the raised lockback release is also solid 18K gold. Ken's awards just keep piling up, and his lead time to get knives keeps getting longer. He is making far fewer knives these days as he is busy with factory collaborations, and knives like this one take a lot more time to complete.
