If you are an aspiring knife maker, it helps to have John W Smith as your mentor, and, if you are really lucky, your father. John and Chris made this nice automatic linerlock folder together, and it is a beauty. It measures 8 1/8" open, 4 5/8" closed, and has a 3 1/2" blade length. The blade and double bolster damascus was forged by John, and the finished product hot blued for a very elegant look. The bolsters and the release contain 18K gold inlay, and the mother of pearl scales are typical of the absolutely premium pieces that John always finds for his knives. The titanium liners are fully fileworked and gold anodized, and the damascus backspacer is rope fileworked inside and out, and hot blued. The gold screws finish the package very nicely. Very smooth and rock solid, just what you would expect from the Smith shop.
