Friedrich (Fritz) Schneider is one of the best known knifemakers in Germany, and at seventy two years old is still going strong. His best known accomplishment is quite likely the developement of stainless steel damascus in 1981, a steel which he still makes today. Knifemakers Ron Lake, Michael Walker, Dietmar Kressler, Bob Terzoula, and Charles Bennica, just to name a few, have all used Fritz's stainless damascus in their knives. Friedrichs own knives range from hunters and fighters to folders, and even an occasional presentation dagger finds it way out of his shop. He does some engraving, largely using hunting themes. He has received numerous awards in Europe over the years, and is a member of the German Knifemakers Guild.
