Just as Bill Moran was the first straight knife maker to forge his own damascus, the late Jim Schmidt was the first to forge damascus for folding knives. Known for his beefy, beautifully made folders, Jim likely only made around two hundred and fifty knives in his entire career. He liked mixing natural materials with his awesome damascus, and used fossil ivories, antique Tortoise, Stag, and mother of pearls among many others. His designs stand out as very unique among other makers, and one of his students, Barry Davis, carries on Jim's tradition nicely. These are the knives that I currently have available made by: Jim Schmidt |
