D'Alton Holder sold his first knife in 1966, and has been a full time knifemaker since 1988. He specializes in fancy using knives, mostly hunters, but will throw in a Bowie or fighter on occasion for fun. He works almost exclusively with ATS-34 stainless steel, and favors natural handle materials like Stag, fossil ivories, various woods, marble, bone, Amber, and others. Many of his knives are stick tang with stacked handles containing many different materials. Bruce Shaw has engraved many Holder knives, and D's wife Pat is doing a lot of engraving as well. D'Alton has been a Knifemakers Guild member since 1973, and has served in nearly every capacity, including two different terms as President. He has received numerous awards over the years, and is also a member of the Knifemakers Hall of Fame.
