Rick Eaton is a full time knife maker known mostly for his extremely high quality interframe folders and high art knives in various patterns such as daggers, bowies, hunters, fighters, and many unique designs. He is also well known for his high quality engraving, including color engraving, Bulino, and gold inlay. Rick uses 440C, 154CM, ATS-34, and forges his own damascus. He favors the use of natural materials for his handle inlays, including mother of pearl, ivory, various stones, exotic woods, abalone, horn, coral, and stag. Many of his folders feature a step down handle front, which gives a folder the look of a fixed blade knife. Many knives also feature one hand opening with a blade tang that is hidden when the knife is open, giving it a very clean look. Rick sold his first knife in 1982, and because of the detail and time involved in each piece, he does not make very many pieces in a years time. He has been a voting member of the Knifemakers Guild since 1997.
